Om Pal, pradhan of Jikarpur village in Tappal said the farmers are not against the township but are demanding rates equal to Noida. "We will hold a panchayat in next few days to decide the course of action. At present, only those farmers have succumbed to pressure and have accepted government offer whose land has already been acquired. Such farmers had no option because neither they got any compensation, nor they were able to plough their fields," he said, adding: "Farmers whose land have not been acquired will launch the agitation".
Meanwhile, Nutan Singh Tevetia, wife of farmer leader Manveer Singh Tevetia, told TOI that she and her family are being harassed by the police because her husband has been leading the farmers who are demanding high rates of compensation. "Though senior superintendent of police Amitabh Yash was very polite and good to me, the junior level officers are constantly harassing me," she said. Yash, when contacted, denied any harassment of Tevetia family. He said Tevetia has neither been arrested nor detained by the police.
