Rohith Vemula suicide: Most central universities fail anti-discrimination test -Anubhuti Vishnoi

NEW DELHI: While the fact-finding committee report on the Rohith Vemula suicide has slammed the Hyderabad Central University not only for the various gaps in the inquiry process but also for the absence of necessary grievance redressal mechanisms, most central varsities would probably fail this test.

As per an assessment of all central universities — done at the conference of central university vice-chancellors’ held just off the capital on Thursday — not one central university has appointed an ombudsman. Only eight of the 46 central universities of India have set up a grievance redressal cell.
