New Delhi: The Delhi High Court-appointed committee to look into the issue of school fee hike has submitted an interim report recommending a special inspection by the Director of Education in 13 private schools in the city, which had not submitted proper records of their finances to the education department.

The committee also recommended refund of fee by 47 private schools. It has previously recommended refund by over 120 other schools.

The schools which have been asked to refund the fee include Modern School, Vasant Vihar, Amity International, Saket, DAV Public School, Sreshtha Vihar, and KIIT World School, Paschim Vihar, among others.

The High Court in 2011 had appointed the Justice Anil Dev Singh committee to look into the financial records of private schools to determine whether the ten per cent increase in fee following the implementation of the 6th pay commission was justified.

"With respect to 13 schools, the committee has not been able to take a categorical view as, in the case of some schools, complete records were not produced by them for examination by the committee and in the case of others, the records produced did not inspire any confidence for reasons which are discussed in the case of each individual school. In some cases, the records appeared to have been fabricated," the committee report said.
