Hyderabad: The Scheduled Castes (SC) and Scheduled Tribes (ST) sub-plans, for whose implementation the Government adopted a legislation recently, have finally been named "Indiramma Kalalu (dreams).
The implementation of these plans is being launched formally by Chief Minister N. Kiran Kumar Reddy in West Godavari and Khammam districts on Friday, marking the celebrations of 106th jayanti of late Jagjivan Ram.
The Government is taking pride that AP has emerged as the forerunner of the sub-plans in the country. No other State has offered legislative backing to these plans so far.
A huge Rs 12,500-crore allocation is made to these plans in the 2013-14 budget, a 23 per cent out of Rs 59,000-crore plan outlay proportionate to SC/ST population.
It may be recalled that the Chief Minister described the sub-plans as a "fitting tribute" to Indira Gandhi who always dreamt of implementing such plans and insisted on States to adopt them.
The Chief Minister will launch the sub-plans at Indira SC Colony at Vegavaram in Jangareddygudam mandal of West Godavari district, and at Yellandu in Khammam district.
