Bhopal: The state government on Tuesday said the ‘cash transfer scheme’ announced by the Central government recently was already in place here.
"The process of transferring amounts of subsidy directly into bank accounts of beneficiaries is already in place in Madhya Pradesh with a view to preventing leakage in govt subsidy schemes and ensuring transparency in selection of beneficiaries", read a press statement issued by the government.
According to it, Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan had started the scheme of transferring subsidy and loan amounts to farmers directly into their bank accounts in the agriculture sector about two years before the Union Government’s decision.
Beside this, various scholarships to students, funds for cycles and uniforms and funds given to school management committees are also being transferred directly into their bank accounts, it said.
A sum of Rs 13,250 crore was deposited in farmers’ accounts against procurement of over 85 lakh quintals of wheat, said the government communication.
