Bhopal: Leader of Opposition in Madhya Pradesh Assembly, Ajay Singh has demanded that Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan put an end to "forcible" acquisition of land belonging to farmers, in the state.
Ajay said in a statement that the manner in which farmers were being treated by the Chouhan government reminded one of the "repressive tactics" used during the British days.
The Congress leader who yesterday visited Dokariya and Bujbuja villages in Katni district said that for the last eight months, land belonging to farmers had being forcibly acquired by the BJP government for Welspun Power Company.
"There is a lot of terror in Dokariya and Bujbuja and what has happened there has exposed the anti-farmers’ face of the state government," he said.
He said that one woman Suniya Bai had committed suicide in protest against her land being forcibly acquired for the power company, and such things should end.
