DALTONGANJ: Almost 725 incomplete wells being constructed under the MGNREGA scheme in Palamu will now wait for the winter to restart the work.
These wells were dug up to five feet depth or even less than that. Now with the rain around, the Palamu administration has put an embargo on any further digging up as the rainwater force the wells to collapse. Palamu DC Pooja Singhal has confirmed the halt in work. She clarified that beneficiaries of the wells have no reason to be sad as the administration has not cancelled or rejected the work agreement of the wells. She said the beneficiaries should not be worried for any transfer of their wells to other beneficiaries as this scheme was not transferable. "The plot number and khata number on which these wells are to come up will come up without any change of place." Work for the wells will restart in this winter. Asked as to how and why such a huge number of wells get stuck up, Singhal said there were many factors and the administration would not like to pass the buck on the beneficiaries for not acting fast on the wells.
