The BJP, on Monday, came down heavily on the Ashok Gehlot government on the issue of relief for farmers whose crops were destroyed due to extreme cold wave and additional funds to the tune of over Rs 6,700 crore sought by the state government.
On the other hand, the CM accused the opposition of raising the issue of relief to farmers only for political mileage. "Rather than creating a ruckus in the house, the opposition should have gone to the villages and recorded the complaints of farmers along with the drawbacks in the survey system. Their recommendations would have helped better,” said Gehlot, while interacting with the media.
He said the state government will decide on the compensation after the survey report is compiled by the end of March.
Reacting to the chaos in the house following their demand for a relief package for farmers, leader of Opposition Vasundhara Raje said the government has acted irresponsibly and tried to put the blame on Opposition. "It is a critical issue and there was no need to adjourn the house,” said Raje.
