In a shocking revelation that is certain to rock the Andhra Pradesh government and administration, state Excise Minister M Venkata Ramana has been accused of taking a Rs 10 lakh bribe to let the illegal liquor business run.
The allegation has come from the man accused of running the illegal business. He has also revealed the names of top excise officials and politicians across party lines to the Anti-Corruption Bureau.
The names include Deputy Commissioner of Khammam district and Congress MLA Kavitha who allegedly took bribes every month.
The bureau has been investigating liquor syndicates in the state since December 2011 after an excise department van was caught with cash worth more than Rs 3 lakh.
