The Karnataka Milk Federation (KMF) can help free poor people from poverty, announced Dr V Kurien, father of the milk federation in the country.

“It is a testimony to the strength of the co-operation that KMF has become India’s second largest dairy cooperative. Despite its achievements, the fact remains that there are still many poor people in rural areas. I believe that the solution to this is to set up more co-operatives,” he said.
He was speaking at the launch of new milk products by the KMF, where he was felicitated by chief minister, DV Sadananda Gowda. “The White Revolution and the Anand Cooperative model is something that every state should aspire to do. We are trying to improve the co-operative model in our state,” said chief minister Gowda.
Announcing the launch of new products, KMF’s chairman, Somashekar Reddy said that, in the next few months, KMF will target making a turnover of `6,000 crore in the next fiscal.
He asserted that there would not be anymore hike in milk prices in the near future. “The hike was to help farmers belonging to the co-operatives. Nevertheless, considering that the hikes are adversely affecting our consumers, we will not be increasing the prices any time soon,” he promised.
“Nevertheless, there is a need to address the problems of the farmers,” he added.
