Gulberg Society case order reserved by Manas Dasgupta

The special court judge hearing the Gulberg Society massacre trial has reserved his order till November 18 on the plea of the advocate of the riot victims to stay the proceedings till the Supreme Court–appointed Special Investigation Team submitted its final report.
Advocate S.M. Vora had moved the court to stay the trial after the SIT refused to submit its report before the special court and informed last month that as per the Supreme Court’s directive it would submit its report and that of the amicus curie to an appropriate magisterial court in Ahmedabad.
The Supreme Court while refusing to pass an order on the Zakia Jafri petition accusing Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi and 62 others of involvement in the 2002 communal riots, had directed the SIT to submit its report along with the report of the amicus curie before a magisterial court in Ahmedabad for further action.
Both Mr. Vora and the advocate for the victims of the Naroda-Patiya massacre had moved their respective special courts for direction to the SIT to decide a time frame within which it intended to submit its report, but the SIT so far had not given any indication to this effect.
