The State Government is set to implement SMS Alert scheme in this connection soon. With this in view, September 22 has been fixed as the last date for giving concrete shape to the tenders of service provider companies. State Civil Supplies Corporation is carrying out this work as the nodal agency. Meanwhile, the process of online registration of consumers for getting benefit of this scheme is continuing. So far, more than 450 consumers have been registered.
Now, the consumers will not have to face the embarrassment of returning home empty-handed from ration shops after pretext by PDS shop owner about non-availability of foodgrains. It will be possible because consumers will be informed beforehand about the date and availability of foodgrains at their respective fair price shops through SMS Alert. Registration of consumers is being made with this very purpose. The Government intends to implement the scheme soon. At present, online registration is being made with a view to prevent unnecessary delay. Only registered consumers will get SMS Alert.
For online registration, National Informatics Centre (NIC) has developed special software for Food and Civil Supplies Corporation. Apart from all necessary information about registered consumer, it will also have the details about the name, address and code number of the concerning fair price shop of his area. SMS Alert will be sent to the consumer on the basis of this information.
