Odisha: Dangaria Kondh tribals join anti-Posco agitation

More than 20 tribals belonging to primitive Dangaria Kandh community from Niyamgiri area Thursday joined the anti Posco movement to express their solidarity to the ongoing  ovement at Posco proposed site.

The tribals, armed with traditional weapons, came in a procession to the protest site near Govindpur village and joined the villagers. The villagers have formed a human barricade to prevent entry of government and company officials to the proposed site.

Dangaria Kondh tribals belonging to Niyamgiri Surakshya Samiti (NSS) led by its president Dadhi Pursika sat at the site of ongoing dharna by Posco Pratirodh Sangram Samiti (PPSS) at Gobindpur village under Dhinkia gram panchayat.

The Dangaria Kandh tribals from Kalahandi district have been fighting for past many  ears to protect the Niyamgiri hills in their region from mining operations.

Noted journalist P.Sainath also reached the proposed site late in the evening. On the other hand, tree cutting and construction of wall by the administration was in full swing on Thursday.
