In his letter, a copy of which has been marked to Chief Minister Mayawati, Singh has asked for strict actions against officials involved in the “NREGA scam of Sonbhadra district worth Rs 100 crores”.
“It has been over a year that various reports had pointed out scams in Sonbhadra but no punitive action has been taken against the guilty officers. The Congress party to launch aggressive agitation at district headquarters if the state government fails to take any action against the officers,” Singh wrote.
Singh will attend the monitoring committee meeting, which has all the six Union Ministers from UP — Beni Prasad Verma, Jitin Prasada, RPN Singh, Pradeep Jain, Salman Khushid and Sriprakash Jaiswal — as its members. Khurshid, who was givenmost of the responsibility of the panel in the last meeting,however, will not be attending the Tuesday’s meet as he is on a foreign tour.
“Khurshid was given the responsibility that included preparation of documents concerning implementation of UPA schemes in UP, finalising the list of UPA schemes shown as achievement by UP Government etc,” said one of the members of the committee.
The committee was constituted to monitor implementation of 16 welfare schemes of the UPA government.
