He owns 30 companies, set up in the last 11 years and has a life insurance policy worth Rs 85 lakh in his son’s name.
He was raided by the vigilance department in February last year, suspended and then reinstated.
Agarwal is now serving as the Secretary, Corporation, in the Chhattisgarh government.
The 1988 batch Chhattisgarh cadre officer was raided by the Income Tax department in February last year and suspended soon after.
But he has since been reinstated. The Income Tax department submitted a report to the Chhattisgarh government in January this year recommending Agarwal’s removal but the government has failed to act against the tainted bureaucrat so far.
Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Raman Singh said, "The I-T dept has made suggestions to the Chief Secretary and asked for action. We will take a decision based on the report."
Agarwal is not new to controversy as the Income Tax department raided his house in 2008 as well after his son’s name surfaced in an insurance scam.
CNN-IBN has accessed documents regarding the scam. The CBI is investigating the case.
The Principal of Greenfield School Meena Yadav said, "Babulal Agarwal’s son wasn’t enrolled in class 5 in this school. There are discrepancies in the school letterhead and my signature."
Agarwal also allegedly used a fake death certificate to cover his tracks.
