Union Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee’s son Avijit Mukherjee, who is contesting from Nalhati in Birbhum district as a Congress candidate in the West Bengal assembly elections, has assets worth more than Rs 5 crore jointly with his wife.
Avijit who filed his nomination on Tuesday stated in his affidavits that he had movable assets worth Rs 58.2 lakh. These include a Maruti 800 car, an army Mahindra jeep and a revolver made by the Small Arms Factory, a unit of Ordnance Factory Board, Kanpur. His immovable assets are worth Rs 1,73,76,318 which include two flats in Delhi’s Greater Kailash, Part II and Greater Noida in UP. His wife Chitralekha owns movable assets worth over Rs 90 lakh, including a Toyota Corolla and jewellery of Rs 52 lakh. Her immovable assets are worth Rs 1,28,56,000 that includes a flat in Greater Kailash Part II. He also has agricultural and non-agricultural land currently valued around Rs 30 lakh, while his wife owns agricultural land worth Rs 42,31,930.
