Mansinh Sandhav, his sons Kalusinh and Hamir, and daughters-in-law Jatan Kalu Mansinh and Leela Hamir Mansinh had consumed pesticide in Vikramsinh Solanki’s house after the latter refused to give back their land. The police said Vikramsinh Solanki is the uncle of Mansinh.
Vikramsinh and co-accused Digvijaysinh Vaghela of Kanoti village (Sanand), Prithvirajsinh Bhagubhai of Khoda village (Sanand), Prakashsinh vijaysinh of Bahvnahth Society (Sanand), Hiendra Vanraj Vaghela (Sanand) and Mahavirsinh Vaghela of Godhav village (Sanand) are all absconding.
Sandeep Singh, SP, Ahmedabad district, said: “The farmers have indeed been duped by their own relative Vikramsinh. In this case, there is no forgery of any kind, the victims have themselves signed the new agreement, probably unknowingly. The victims have not willingly transferred the property; they have been duped.”
He said the police will probe the case against all those involved in the fraud.
The family has claimed that the mamlatdar is also involved in the fraud, but Singh said: “So far, the said mamlatdar’s name has not come up as an accused, but if the family’s claims are true, he will be probed too.”
Investigations have further revealed that Vikramsinh has past criminal records and was involved in frauds and assault cases.
Mansinh’s family attempted suicide after they found that Vikrasinh had grabbed their ancestral farmland of 15 bighas worth Rs five crore by duping them.
The family is reportedly illiterate and found out about the fraud only after they went to the mamlatdar’s office in Sanand. The mamlatdar had reportedly approved the transfer of ownership of the land to Vikramsinh and the others
