Centre revises minimum daily wage under MGNREGS: Hooda

cThe Centre has revised the minimum daily wage under its flagship programme of Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme (MGNREGS) for all the states, Haryana government today said. As per this decision, the MGNREGA workers in Haryana would now get daily wage at the rate of Rs 179 with effect from January 1, 2011, a statement quoting Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda said here. The revised wage rate of Haryana state was highest in the country as compared to other states, the statement claimed. During the year, 1.50 lakh rural households had taken up MGNREGA work in the villages and these households would be benefitted on account of the revision in the wage rate, it said. A sum of Rs 428.54 crore had been spent in Haryana out of the total amount of Rs 431.34 crore released under MGNREGS upto December 2010 since its implementation. As many as 12,595 development works had already been completed and employment of 214.96 lakh person days was generated under the scheme, the statement said.
