“Poor, Dalits can benefit only in a clean political system”

If the political system were clean and non-corrupt, the poor and downtrodden including Dalits would get all benefits fully and their living standard would automatically go up, said Prakash Yashwant Ambedkar, grandson of B.R. Ambedkar.

He was addressing a district-level meeting of India Kudiyarsu Katchi held here on Sunday evening. The country have enough resources and component for Adi Dravida welfare in the State was around Rs.1,700 crore. If the government properly disbursed the funds, each Dalit would get at least Rs.20,000, a month.

Corrupt system was responsible for pathetic condition of Dalits. The India Kudiyarsu Katchi should be equipped to elect at least five MLAs in the forthcoming Tamil Nadu Assembly election to air the grievances of Dalits before the high office. “You need total commitment and fight yourselves to achieve it.”

Hitting hard on 2G spectrum scam, he said on one hand, there was an opinion that Dalits had no will power, capacity and were intellectually backward. But former Minister Raja had shown that he was a brilliant Dalit by manipulating the system and earning so much money through illegal means. The loss of Rs.1.70 lakh crore was almost equal to the budget of Tamil Nadu and other states.

He advised people not to sell votes for Rs.5,000 or even for Rs.500 as this would make them happy for one day only.
