Police check details of cases pursued by Mane

The Talegaon Dabhade police are checking the details of the cases, which were being pursued by RTI activist Arun Mane, to identify the persons behind the attack on the activist.

Mane, a close associate of whistleblower Satish Shetty, was assaulted by an unidentified person at his footwear shop in Talegaon, about 40 km from here, on Sunday. Mane sustained minor injuries on his forehead chest. He was discharged from hospital on Monday afternoon. Mane has been following the Shetty murder case as well as two other cases exposed by Shetty. Inspector Sanjay Nikam said, "We are in the process to gather details of the cases to make a headway in the case." Nikam said that Mane does not know who had attacked him and hence it was not possible to draw a sketch of the suspect. Sub-divisional police officer Shrikrishna Kokate told TOI that the police have again recorded the statement of Mane on Monday.

"However, he did not give any important clues which could help trace the suspect. On Monday, we have also conducted his medical test in a government hospital." Superintendent of police Pratap Dighavkar (Pune rural) said that the police have collected scientific evidences from the spot of the assault. The police are also in the process of checking Mane’s call records, he added.
