“These temporary deeds are purely for transportation and conveyances during the stipulated time. They have no right to hold or stock the commodities at their godown for long time. Government cannot surrender everything in the hands of private firms but to protect and safeguard the rights of the general public,” BJP Nagaland stated in a press note.
The party also stated that the government does not authorize contractors to indulge in random mismanagement of food grains that are meant for public, in commodities like APL, BPL rice, wheat, Annapurna rice, AAY rice and Levy Sugar, Hostel scheme, welfare scheme of rice and wheat received from the central pool every month. “The state government fails to invest money on the essential commodities for delivery of food grains. The monthly deposit of money for food grains is arranged through the state stockiest and districts nominees’ thereby inviting the syndicate in the manipulation practices,” stated the note.
BJP Nagaland also enquired on Food Corporation of India (FCI) to follow the central guidelines before the issue of commodities. It advised on applying markings/ink on every item for identifications of different category on every scheme. FCI, are the main channel’s for releasing monthly quota of central schemes mean for states.
