‘Centre to spend Rs 12 cr this fiscal for rural health’



Manpreet Singh Ayali, chairman of Zila Parishad-cum-District Health Monitoring Planning Committee, has said Rs 12 crore are being spent in this current financial year under the various schemes of National Rural Health Mission (NRHM) to provide better health facilities to the people of rural areas.
 
Ayali was addressing a meeting of District Level Health Monitoring Planning Committee at Zila Parishad Complex on Friday. Ayali further said that the birth rate has increased in the rural dispensaries due to better medical facilities accessible to the people there.

He said Health department teams have been visiting the 2,000 government schools in the district to conduct complete health check-ups and provide free treatment to the the needy. Dr Satwant Bhalla, Civil Surgeon-cum-Co-Chairman of the committee, said the Health department is committed to provide better health services in rural areas.

Dr Bhalla said the delivery facilities are being provided free of cost in all hospitals and Primary Health Centres in the district; 913 village health sanitation committees have been constituted by the Health department.
