All ration card holders in the state will receive one litre of palm oil along with their monthly quota of other food commodities from July onwards.
Officials from the department of civil supplies told TOI that the oil will be priced much lower than the market rate. "The price is yet to be fixed. However, it should be within the range of Rs 30-35," civil supplies sources said.
"Every ration card holder across categories-whether above poverty line or below poverty line-will get one packet of palm oil per month from July onwards. Palm oil will be supplied to all fair price shops across the state through the Goa Marketing Supply Federation," officials said.
The State Trading Corporation of India Ltd, a central government body, will supply the palm oil to the Goa Marketing Supply Federation that will pack it and supply it to all ration shops through the public distribution system. Goa has around 3.60 lakh ration card holders across all categories.
