In an alleged case of honour killing in Ghaziabad, a man bludgeoned his 21-year-old daughter to death two-and-a-half years after she eloped and married a man from her neighbourhood in Ram Park, Loni. The woman had come to meet a relative of her husband in the same village when the incident took place round 1.30 pm on Sunday.
The father of the victim, Haroon, works in a dairy.
He was reportedly still upset about his daughter Praveen eloping with Taahir.
“The couple got married and were living in Mustafabad in Delhi. The man works as fruit-seller in Delhi. The couple even had a year-and-a half-old child,” said Ashok Rana, Station House Officer, Loni.
On Sunday, Haroon, who also stays in Ram Park, saw his daughter at the house of a neighbour, who is also a relative of Praveen’s husband.
Enraged, he picked up an iron bar and repeatedly hit his daughter with it in front of the members of the family. “The father felt insulted when he saw his daughter in his neighbourhood,” Rana added.
The accused then went to the police station and surrendered. A case of murder has been registered at the Loni police station.
