Sonebhadra (U.P.): Three employees of the Postal Department and two workers of the Forest Department were arrested in the district and two others suspended on charges of serious violations in the National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme, police said on Saturday.
Police said Rs. 1.17 lakh in cash, 69 withdrawal forms and 44 pass books were recovered from the arrested. Deputy Forest Ranger Dayaram and Forester Kesar Singh were suspended and a recommendation to suspend the Ranger was sent, Forest Department sources said.
The anomaly in the NREGS was detected by a third party monitor, Rajendra Singh, who probed complaints of irregularities, police said. The monitor detected irregularity in payment to about 30 labourers in the Mujhai.
